The following is a list of Napa Firewise approved
Defensible Space contractors. These contractors have received a
minimum of 40 hours of field training in defensible space evaluation
and mitigation.

Welcome to the Napa County Fire Department Firewise Chipping Program. This is a free service to provide assistance to those residents who are working to maintain the state required 100 feet of Defensible Space (DS) around their homes.

To arrange for free chipping services,
click here to access a convenient application form for your pile that meets the following criterion.

Maximum individual pile size is 20 feet long by 6 feet high by 10 feet wide.

Chipping to occur along road/driveway or area allowing the crew to work alongside the pile safely.

All material to be chipped (no poison oak), shall be placed along the edge of the road/driveway with the cut ends pointing one direction. Stem diameters must be less than 6 inches. No dozer or tractor piles.

Chipped vegetation will be left on the ground for decomposition.
